Jan 2011 - New Year, New Quality

Hello All,

2011 is here! And I’m sure you’ve all been thinking about what you
want to achieve and do in 2011.

Since last year, I’ve taken on a New Year’s Practice encouraged by Wendy
Palmer, founder of Conscious Embodiment and author of ‘The intuitive
Body’. I take a quality I would like more of and for the whole year,
I work on it. Last year was ‘groundedness’ and boy, that was a rich
one for me! This year, I’m working on the quality of ‘ease’ – what is
it like when I have more ease in my being and in my life? Qualities
you might explore include inclusiveness, compassion, ease,
groundedness, centreness, trust. See what one speaks to you and take
a few minutes to ask yourself ‘What would it be like if I had alittle
bit more of ease/inclusiveness/centredeness/confidence etc right now?’

When I do that, I notice that I feel more relaxed, any tension that
tends to gather in my stomach disappears and I feel ready to step into
whatever challenges await me at this time. The more I explore this
quality, the more I learn about myself and the more I can call upon
the strengths of this quality when I really need to (i.e. in times of
challenge or stress)

In 2011, I’m running a number of workshops and retreats in the UK and
internationally. It would be great to see you at one of these – for a
full list, go to http://www.creatingfrompolarity.com/workshop.

And, I’ve been quoted in an article in the Economist!!! Go to
http://www.economist.com/node/17723028?story_id=17723028 and you’ll
find my quote at the third paragraph up from the end of the piece.

One of my favorite poets – Mary Oliver wrote this poem which is the
poem of the month on the e-zine.

The Swan

Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river?
Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air -
An armful of white blossoms,
A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned
into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
Biting the air with its black beak?
Did you hear it, fluting and whistling
A shrill dark music – like the rain pelting the trees – like a waterfall
Knifing down the black ledges?
And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds -
A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet
Like black leaves, its wings Like the stretching light of the river?
And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?

~ Mary Oliver

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!
from you all in 2011 ~ I love hearing your comments and what you have
all been up to!

Warmly,

Beth
